Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders
OCSD is a term used to describe a family of related conditions. An explanation for why these disorders are related is complicated and not fully known. But often the conditions are linked because of common causes (e.g., genetic risk), physiology (e.g., brain regions, like the striatum), psychological experiences (e.g., intrusive thoughts or impulses), behaviors (e.g., repetitive movements), treatment response (e.g., habituation), and epidemiology (e.g., high co-occurrence rates).
