Now You Know Cards
Every one of us struggles with something yet too often we struggle alone. Connected more than ever before, but more isolated. Connect with someone by sharing your struggle.
Now You Know cards allow you to easily hand someone basic information about your health or mental health conditions–what is helpful and what is NOT. We, of course, encourage verbal dialog when possible, but written cards can play a role to bridge separation. People become more sensitive and understanding once they are in the know.
Want to Bridge the Disconnect? Here’s How to Take Action:
Fill out the card and give to classmates, your child’s teacher, new friends, etc. so they understand your condition.
If you are comfortable, take a pic of your card filled out and post online with the hashtag #nowyouknow
These cards were created to be adaptable and used for many different purposes:
- Mental illness
- Medical conditions (diabetes, cancer, epilepsy etc.)
- Developmental Disorders
- Single events (broken arm, death of loved one, engagement)
- Birth defects/body disfigurements
- Other disabilities
They can be kept handy and shared with:
- Family members
- Office staff
- Bus drivers
- Camp Counselors
- Day care providers
